Well, everyone. U guys can say what u like. Hate her or love her, she’s sure got the attention of the media now. Soon, MTV asia or some other Teen channels will be featuring her here and there. Her life will change for the better…..or worse. I mean, from a newpaper source, she was advised to give up her BF to make her statue single so that it will look better for her fans. If she really become famous because she’s pretty and nothing more, then i suggest she choose another course in life. She will need more then just a pretty face to win the crowd. Why is there a need, and whose need is this that is being met and fuelled, that Dawn has to ‘come out’ with guns ablaze saying she’s had plastic surgery? Dear oh dear, why do people invest their time so sadly deriding or picking chinks in people’s armour? At what price is there, for you, yes, you the ’sour grapes’, that will compel you to stop?

People put their past behind, perhaps due to uncertainty of one’s self. If it is true about plastic surgery, then now it is her new lease of life. She wants to start afresh from what she was before. This contract is one thing that will bring her out from her past.
Now the report that i left there was to show you that she is battling it out herself. Can’t you see that she has already two offers - movie endorsements and magazine covers?

why is it a big deal? for the simple reason that being in the public eye makes you a sort of poster boy/girl whether you want it or not. Having had such extensive plastic surgery/facial overhaul sends messages to people that it is OK for everyone, esp.young impressionable teenagers to undergo plastic surgery for the sake of pure vanity. Having operation on your spine is different-that is a medical need. People have died from plastic surgery complications before. This is not a walk in the park.Has Singapore become so superficial? Tsk tsk.

Actually, we are conditioned to think that Ang-Mohs look better since small. Remember, the movie industry is a Western invention. We’ve been watching movies ever since we can remember. And most of the time it’s movies with Ang-Mohs in them. Sure we have some other movies, but the ones that bring in the huge bucks are the American movies. Those images stay with us and “us” makes up a nation of people believing the same.
However, to the point. I think Eurasian girls tend to be the most attractive all round. They blend the best of both European and Asian cultures. This is not a general statement but I’m speaking as of what’s “in” right now.
Also, don’t believe the hype of Ang-Mohs being better looking than Asians. Seriously, I would know!! There are hotties from both sides of the pond. I don’t know how Singapore is nowadays but with the rise of Asian cinema in the West, lots of Ang-Mohs (girls and guys) just simply adore the Asian look. Just like how we adored their counterparts while growing up.
The reason I think the Eurasian look is the best is because it brings out the better highlights of both cultures. I think this is just nature favoring diversity.
Also point of note in case you guys might not know but lots of hot looking Ang-Moh girls that you see in the media or in other countries usually have some other ethnic parentage in them. It is not common to see pure breds possessing such stunning looks.

i am eurasian, a real one. not some caucasian asian mix who calls herself eurasian coz it’s more ‘exotic’.. but i have more caucasian/eurasian blood than dawn ever will. i once dyed my hair blonde and everyone thought i was ang-moh.. but that doesnt make me one. similarly.. just coz she fools people by wearing coloured contacts, doesnt make her eurasian.
she’s not eurasian or anything of the like. so what if she’s 1/8, 1/16 or 1/32 some sort of foreign blood.. it’s immaterial and she sure as hell doesnt look it. why? coz she’s a chinese kid. 7/8, 15/16, 31/32 chinese. a lucky one who’s got nice features and money to buy contacts.
she should be creditting her good looks to having a good blend of chinese features.. not some race she barely even is. i cant believe how easily people lap the ‘eurasian card’ up.. it’s disappointing really…

acutally both of you have a point, but i have to side maria on this one.
maria doesn’t seem to be implying that eurasians are ’superior’ as you (maria needs some love!) seem to think, otherwise she wouldn’t acknowledge and attribute dawn’s good looks to “a good blend of chinese features”. sure, i have met my share of ego-maniac mixed folk, and yes, they need a good whack in the head. but not all of them are like that. the many eurasians i know personally have great personalities and are all down-to-earth. no cocky bullshit. and their looks, if they have any, are simply a bonus. as for the mixed poeple who think they are god’s gifts to the world, can you really blame them? maria needs some love!, why don’t you read through all the posts and see how many people equate mixed blood/eurasians with beauty, and attribute dawn’s looks to her apparent mixed blood. and in this forum alone!! how many other sites/forums/blogs form the same equation… even the straits times published an article about eurasians and how people of mixed heritage are evidently the most beautiful in the world! i know MANY asians who idol worship eurasians, let’s not even get started on the caucasians! i guess in that sense i get why maria seems annoyed that a good looking chinese girl can get a certain amount of attention simply because people think she’s mixed.. as if it’s a ticket to idolatry. is it because dawn’s got an iota of caucasian blood? or is it because she’s got coloured contacts to enhance that minute bit of her family tree? even if dawn doesn’t play the “eurasian card” herself, her admirers definitely seem to credit her looks to it.

Um, isn’t it quite obvious maria was accusing dawn for promoting herself as a eurasian to gain popularity, which she finds irritating cos she thinks dawn’s not a true blue eurasian?
But I think maria has got it all wrong and shouldn’t be annoyed. People are attracted to dawn because she is one helluva hot babe, not because of a eurasian tag, which she didn’t give herself in the first place, only that she has mixed grandparents. People say she’s gd-looking, then some further comment that she looks eurasian. But yet some also think that she looks chinese. Or thai. whatever. I even read on an american’s website he thought she had mexican or native american blood! Beauty is really all in the eye of the beholder.
You say “her admirers definitely seem to credit her looks to it [being eurasian]”. But do realize that there is a difference between commenting on what race a beautiful person looks like, and saying a person is beautiful because she is a certain race.
There’s no need to get riled up and childishly insisting you’re a “real eurasian” and you have “more eurasian blood than dawn ever will”. Sounds rather supremist to me. wow i didn’t expect a small uproar… i’m glad i came back. anyway as to what i said, it is pretty unfair and biased… i must have been in a bad mood!! but i gotta say, i saw dawn on FHM and she’s so hot!!! haha… sweet and sexy is hard to come by.
i felt bad for kind of ’slamming’ her, so here i am!!! don’t get me wrong… i was not trying to ‘promote’ eurasians or anything… i don’t know what state of mind i was in that day! but i think a few people have misunderstood what i said. then again it came across more harsh than i meant so it’s understandable. i suppose being a minority race can take its toll occasionally hence the little angsty ‘outburst’…? i dont’ know. but thanks maria has a point for trying to stick up for me.
whatever it is, i must agree that dawn is really pretty! =) and super hot!
